About AI-PAMI
The Aging and Integrative Pain Assessment and Management Initiative (AI-PAMI), at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, is a comprehensive project addressing non-opioid pain management in adults, 50 years and older, living in Northeast Florida. The overall goal of AI-PAMI is the advancement of innovative pain education and patient care focused on multimodal and integrative pain management. The project encompasses community outreach, education and research. Funding is provided by the Florida Blue Foundation.
Aging with Pain Events
Older Adults and Caregivers: Presentations will be led by experts on a variety of topics, such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, physical therapy and yoga. Adults, ages 50 and older, and their caregivers will receive training and education on how to use techniques at home to manage pain and improve quality of life.
Health Care Providers: Presentations will address pain management issues unique to the aging population, such as cognitive impairment, falls, medication side effects and polypharmacy. Health care providers will learn how to help patients incorporate non-medication therapies into their pain management plan, including aromatherapy, dry needling, meditation, virtual reality and more, with the goal of increasing patient safety and quality of life.
