In an effort to assist EMS personnel, hospital and emergency department staff, PEDReady has translated the English and Spanish medical communication cards into Haitian Creole. Haitian Creole is the third most commonly spoken language in Florida.
The cards are designed as a reusable tool to assist in communication with adult and pediatric patients, especially non-English speakers or those who are non-verbal. The 18 cards use emojis to explain a particular topic or aspect of medical care including pain. Cards are made of a durable material that can be cleaned and used with dry erase markers. They are bound together on a ring clip for easy usage and also serve as a great distraction device!
Visit the PAMI website tab for the communication cards to download the English/Spanish and English/Creole cards, or contact pedready@jax.ufl.edu to request your own copy of the cards!
